Unit 2 Revision Checklist

Cambridge Technical Digital Media
Unit 2 Revision Needs

You will be provided with information about a media product and a client brief. All of the questions will relate to this.

The brief could be a media product from any sector, so you will need to revise planning methods across all areas (many are the same – some are not!).

Much of what will be needed is also covered in the Unit 1 work – Unit 2 is more about the use of methods rather than just knowing what they are. You may need to create or evaluate documents, so make sure you learn the contents and conventions of them.

Be ready to:

·      Identify needs from a brief
·      Explain how different job roles would help with a production (you will be given job roles to explain…)
·      Consider financial, legal, ethical and regulatory issues for a production
·      Talk about possible research that could be conducted (audience, market and product) – primary, secondary, quantitative and qualitative
·      Talk about planning activities that could be done for a product
·      Create brief examples of documents: site maps, storyboards, mind maps, visualisation diagrams etc. (bear in mind the limitations of being in an exam!) ANNOTATIONS ARE YOUR FRIEND!
·      Evaluate a fictional production document using the three point structure (this may be done without seeing the example!)

Unit 22: Script Draft

TASK: You are going solo! In order to make sure you have the evidence for this unit, each of you will use your planning to write a full script :   • Read the advice on http://www.screenwriting.info/05.php   • Write a full draft of your script using all of the conventions we have covered - a general rule of thumb is that 1 page equals 1 minute of film The draft needs to be complete by Friday 15th November NOTE: Unit 22 Checklist is on its way...
