Unit 2 Revision Checklist

Cambridge Technical Digital Media
Unit 2 Revision Needs

You will be provided with information about a media product and a client brief. All of the questions will relate to this.

The brief could be a media product from any sector, so you will need to revise planning methods across all areas (many are the same – some are not!).

Much of what will be needed is also covered in the Unit 1 work – Unit 2 is more about the use of methods rather than just knowing what they are. You may need to create or evaluate documents, so make sure you learn the contents and conventions of them.

Be ready to:

·      Identify needs from a brief
·      Explain how different job roles would help with a production (you will be given job roles to explain…)
·      Consider financial, legal, ethical and regulatory issues for a production
·      Talk about possible research that could be conducted (audience, market and product) – primary, secondary, quantitative and qualitative
·      Talk about planning activities that could be done for a product
·      Create brief examples of documents: site maps, storyboards, mind maps, visualisation diagrams etc. (bear in mind the limitations of being in an exam!) ANNOTATIONS ARE YOUR FRIEND!
·      Evaluate a fictional production document using the three point structure (this may be done without seeing the example!)

Welcome to Year 1 of Level 3 Media

And we're off! I will use this blog to upload lesson content and share things that I *think* are interesting and relevant (I make no promises). When you have created your blog, I will also pin a post of all of your addresses. Feel free to use your blogs as a portfolio for Media - you can add as much media related info as you like, or share work you have done independently. This could be very useful for university applications. WARNING: It is an academic blog and will be used as assessment evidence, so you will need to keep it suitable for a learning environment! If you have any queries or questions, email me: drobertson@kingswoodsecondaryacademy.org Guidance for setting up your blog: https://www.wikihow.tech/Start-a-Blog-on-Blogger

Unit 22: Script Draft

TASK: You are going solo! In order to make sure you have the evidence for this unit, each of you will use your planning to write a full script :   • Read the advice on http://www.screenwriting.info/05.php   • Write a full draft of your script using all of the conventions we have covered - a general rule of thumb is that 1 page equals 1 minute of film The draft needs to be complete by Friday 15th November NOTE: Unit 22 Checklist is on its way...

Unit 1: Revision

That's the content covered! Your job now is to prepare a solid bank of revision that you can memorise to be ready for the exam on the morning of Wednesday 22nd May. To be clear about what you need to prepare, you need to be able to: 1. Clearly and succinctly explain the idea, organisation or concept 2. Give a real , specific and relatively detailed example/case study to back it up I have sent you the Word table below to guide your revision preparation. If you don't spend significant time preparing and revising the material regularly , your grade will not improve from the mock. DISCLAIMER: This list won't guarantee success and there is always room for additional research in every area!
